We were back after another two week break, getting ourselves in the groove, even though we were both on the sick list. T.J. was battling the crud and me a cough that sometimes made me a bit hoarse…thankfully my voice held out for the most part. Not only that, I had a mishap with my car a couple of hours before the show and blew out my right front tire. So I wondered if I was even going to make it. But AAA showed up promptly and I was back on the road and there in time (just like T.J. said I would be).
We had for you on this first show of 2011 a celebration of Elvis Presley’s birthday (he would have been 76). Here’s the playlist of many of his songs that ranged through the full stretch of his career (along with other great classic tunes).
Playlist:
(opener) Stang’s Swang – Stevie Ray Vaughan
Blue Moon of Kentucky – Elvis Presley
Hard Headed Woman – Elvis Presley
Baby’s Gotten Good At Goodbye – George Strait
Don’t Be Cruel – Elvis Presley
When My Blue Moon Turns To Gold Again – Elvis Presley
Too Much- Elvis Presley
Fool Such As I – Elvis Presley
Champaign Life – Ne-Yo
One Night With You- Elvis Presley

I Never Loved A Man – Aretha Franklin

Good Time Charlie’s Got The Blues – Elvis Presley
Return To Sender – Elvis Presley
(closer) Goodnight Sweetheart – Spaniels
We shared many Elvis facts during the show. T.J.’s Thoughts on Things was a reaction to the Arizona shootings that had taken place that day. I introduced a new segment called Rockin’ Wendy V’s Ponderings (based on a blog by that name I did for five years). I observed that there are way too many prescription drug commercials clogging the airwaves these days, for some ailments I thought I’d never hear talked about openly on television.
Next week our guest is a young singer/songwriter named Molly Hunt. They get younger and they get more talented. Check her out.
